The most beautiful hike I've done in California is without a doubt the Half Dome.
We started our hike from the Curry Village in Yosemite National Park. From that point, it's a 16 miles round trip hike. The top of the Half Dome is your destination and half-way point. We got up at 4 am and were on our way just shy of 5 am on the John Muir Trail. We passed Nevada Falls while the sun was rising (gorgeous!) and we came back by Vernon Falls (quite a strenuous way down if you ask me, unless you love to go down steep stairs for miles...).

Shealor Lake is not far from Kirkwood Resort — pics to come! — between Lake Tahoe and Folsom. The hike was relatively easy, short enough to have our then 4-year-old and 8-year-old with us.Read More
Bishop was the first overnight stop of our latest Cali road trip. I didn't know what to expect, so I was floored by the majestic views. Especially at sunrise! We were there first week of April.
Although we are not rock climbers, we could tell this spot is a great one for bouldering. And judging by all the people there even though the temperature was in the 45s, it clearly is!
